A very strange track, even for Radiohead. This one grows on you. And appeals after a few headphone concentrated listens.

It sounds kind of like the bastard son of Fitter Happier and No Surprises with computery vocals, and a lullaby like melody. The lyrics to this track can be found in the rare hidden booklet under the Kid A CD tray.

The album version was created by a computer program that Thom wrote and the band built a song on it by using electronic organs and different sounds.

Kid A is what Thom has named the first human clone, which he believes is out there somewhere.

This track is a classic example of how Thom's writing changed for this album. He said he had terrible writers block, and wrote down small ideas on paper, and put them all into a hat. Many of the lyrics from this album came simply from him plucking random words from the hat.

They slip away
I slipped on a little white lie

We've got heads on sticks
And you've got ventriloquists
We've got heads on sticks
And you've got ventriloquists

Staring at the shadows at the edge of my bed
Staring at the shodows at the edge of my bed
Staring at the shadows at the edge of my bed
Staring at the shadows at the edge of my bed

The rats and children follow me out of town
The rats and children follow me out of town

Come on kids
